I had a search and couldn't find much detail on Nos for the A8, so here goes

I've just about got my A8 in sound mechanical order and will be having Nos fitted in a few months. Other than the equipment being fitted and uprated iridium plugs I've not looked into other upgrades which may be needed to accomodate the extra horsepower, this is were I am looking for advice. I'm not a mechanic but do have a reasonable knowledge of cars and the bits involved etc.

I "hope" to add 150-200bhp via Nos but would "hope" to add at least 100bhp without any major upgrades.

My main concerns are how much extra hp can the gearbox and transmission deal with safely?

My other concern is the fuel pump but I'm told this should not be a major concern.

Any advice at all is appreciated, I have an A8Q/96/ABZ/4.2/32V/ Sport.

If you can do it and not detonate the engine.....then I would go for it!

If you don't have a plan or have somebody prove to you that your engine won't detonate.....I would figure that out.

I don't know much about NOS, but I do have a forced induction book on it.....

Good luck, sounds like a very cool project! Keep us posted.....you'll have a habit for NOS....too bad it doesn't last long.

Common agreement is that a stock engine/transmission can safely accomodate 100 extra HP from NO2.

I have a good friend who detonated his S6 pumping too much NO2 . The best part of the story is that he did it in a toll booth on the Massachusetts Turnpike trying to impress the collector and beat all the cars to the left lane.

In later years he commuted on a scooter. Another crazy Audi owner.

Thank's for the advice. It would be fitted, setup and tuned/tweaked etc. by a professional outfit who guarantee all their work and equipment.

I'll do some research first though yes, I'm sure I've heard detonation mentioned before so I'll have a good read.
