Default Odometer Rollback

In the market for a used 8, should i be wary of low mileage in general (i.e., lower than average miles/year use) and immediately suspect a roll back of the miles shown?

if the car checks out fine both from a visual inspection standpoint and a carfax standpoint meaning the miles seem to agree with car's overall wear & tear, is a roll back still something I should be concerned about?
and if yes, how can you tell it's been done? please tell me it can't be done and i'll sleep better...
thanks.

Default What you really have to lose sleep over is...

the fact that downtown Chicago parking valets are going to take your car out for a spin when you leave it. Just don't try putting the car up on blocks and running it in reverse to try and "take the miles off." This usually leads to the car flying out the back of the garage and down into a ravine. :-)

Default You can't roll them back (edit) easily, BTW, it's illegal

I guess somebody could put in a used cluster with less miles.....

Used clusters are the key to most of these rollbacks. It is such an easy thing to do too.

this is just one of many places out there. These guys are legit! Our cars are easy to do ... try the Jeeps ... u have 2 flash the dash, then flash match it to the ECU.

http://www.newagespeedometer.com/nas/order.jsp?id=1&mod=15&pics=true</a

Default they get "around it" by offering ....

... a odometer "repair". They say that if your odometer reads wrong because of an improper jump or other electrical issue, they will recalibrate it to what it should be. A friend's dealer (new&used) deals with one of these companies .... scary thing!
