Default That would be a nice mod... you know how to do that?

Jumpers from where to where?

Judging by ETKA the switches are all identical, so their functionality shouldn't be an issue. What actually regulates the auto up/down? Could it be as simple as swapping a relay/module?

Default Was thinking something similar

If operated from drivers position, the rear windows are not within your line of vision, therefore someone or someting could potentially get trapped. (However, they have a pressure safety).

Imho it wouldn't be for children perse, as you can switch off the operation in the back if need be. Personally I'd be mainly interested to operate the auto up/down from the drivers seat. That would be convenient. :-)

Default You add two jumpers in the wiring connector at the switch

There is a procedure somewhere here on audiworld to do it....you just physically add one wire per switch connetor to jump two contacts on the switch and you're in business.

I could not find the link right now.

Default Go to center locking module, or something like that

And following this chart (regardless of what radio/year you have) recode the module to the new number you want.

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/Body/lockcoding.pdf</a

Default Connected the VAG tool, and these are the fault codes I saw:

03: ABS Brakes
01435: Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
48-10: Supply Voltage --- Intermittent

02: Auto Trans
Coding 00102
18112 - Kickdown Switch (F8): Electrical Malfunction
P1704-35-10---Intermittent

Ideas?

Default Recoded the central lock for auto-lock, etc., but can't get the transmission

to accept anything but the 00102 that is the original (default) setting (it's a '01 S8). I guess the S8 does not, indeed, accept anything else.

Default And, after spending 15-20' trying to find the DLC socket under the ash-tray...

..(per the f&*&ing Bentley), I opened the Audi Manual and saw where the thing was supposed to be. Thanks, Bentley!

Default How annoying...

As you probably have found by now, it's at the lower drivers side dash panel. Bentley must depict the pre facelift car then...?
