OK, here's a wacky/fun HVAC problem

My HVAC blower fan almost stops when turning left, blows on about half volume while going striaght, and if you turn right it blows at full output. This is repeatable. I'm not making this up. At first I thought I was having an acid flashback. This car can make you crazy...

Skiracer has the cure, but to be accurate, it may not be the bearing, but rather the fact that the motor brushes and armature commutator wear at an incline. When the motor shaft slides sideways due to cornering, the worn brushes, the worn armature and the angle at which they wear result in a loss of contact. No contact at the brushes, and no electricity flows.
Corner the other way, and the sliding motor shaft brings the wedged brushes and commutator into contact. Bingo! The motor is powered.
Actually, I am a rocket scientist ;-) (at least there are items on Mars that have passed through my hands.)
Information is the key!

Credit due to the "keep the cabin cool" solar panel no doubt. Too much of a good thing?
These A8's realy should be in a garage when not called to service.
The replacement is not difficult with a good selection of 1/4" drive extensions, ratchets, wobble and universal joints. Your lower back will hate you. Have a fender cover to protect the paint from your belt or zipper.
Cheers

To the original purchaser with a 70K mile warrantee!
It's the long life of the vehicle that tests the owners craftiness.
One might spend $65K to get a NEW fan motor (in the car);-)
