OK, I'm thinking about getting the big brother...
I was going to look at a 2001 A8L...good or bad? Why does the S8 have an additional 50hp? (I know read or STFA) Are there any known problems with this year? what other changes are there between the S8 and the A8L??? sport seats?

He was pulling your leg. The L means 4" longer, but the extra 50 HP and
the way shorter final drive makes it a monster. The interior differences are subjective. You get more color combos in the A8(L).

The engine is still normally aspirated
The S8 has a higher redline, and some additional tuning. 360 HP versus 310.
It also has much lower gearing as compared to the A8 so it gets worse gas mileage but the transmission is a torque multiplier!!!!
If you drive a clean A8L, I think you will be stunned how nice of a car it is, and how cheap they can be had for! Check out audipages.com by clicking my sig if you haven't already.

I'll wait and get an S8...I was searching around the forum for info on the S8 and I saw a lot of your posts...your car looks awesome. I think that I'll keep my eyes out for a D2 (I like the look better than the D3's). I want to get something with lower miles (around 40-50k). I'm not in too much of a hurry...I got my A6 the way I want it, so I'm happy waiting.
