...for about $5k more than my '02 S6. Mileage on the S8 is a bit lower.

What do I gain by going to the S8? I know I lose the extra space of the avant and gain a tick in acceleration (like .1 seconds). I'll assume I get a little more interior space and front parktronic.

Tell me why I should trade. I'm normally in the car by myself but do occasionally toss my dad's wheelchair back there (unfolded - it is a bear to fold) or our two Montague folding bikes (easy to fold - I assume two will fit?).

I'm tempted, very tempted, and I'm sure that the occasional loss of utility is offset by something - I'm just not sure what that something is -

imo having been confronted with the samme choice...

absolutely no regrets here, although i think that re-sale would be stronger on the s6...

I think you'll find the S8 is a lot more spacious up front, back seat too, and the trunk is a cavern. So you'd trade some cargo space for passenger comfort.

Very quiet cars,some of us would actually like to hear a little more from the pipes (though induction roar is sweet when you put your foot in).

Posts by members who've tracked their S8 say the handling limits are far beyond sane street use, way more than enough for day to day, but never harsh.

For other's deliberations on this same choice, search the A8/S8 forum for "test drove both the S6 and S8 today ". Also "S6 vs S8".

If I remember correctly there was also a post by one of our English cousins who pushed each car quite hard over the same piece of countryside and had some surprising observations. Anyone else recall that post?

They would work, probably offset of ET35, S8 is ET48 so they shouldn't have a problem

Unless you really want the sedan over the avant....why pay 5K more for a S8? Your car is even stealthier than a S8....nobody in a million years knows what they are.....I've seen something like 6 on the road ever.

My girlfriend is always talking about her next car, right now she has a B6 A4....once we move in together I will be able to get her a used car...

Somebody told her to get an allroad....I told her forget that, get the S6 avant!!!!

Unless you really have a desire for the S8, why put the cash out? The S8 will be larger inside and probably more comfortable on longer trips....but if that's not an issue for you....drive the wheels off your avant!
