Default One month transmission update

It's been a month since I replaced the torque converter, transmission, throttle position switch, and O2 sensors.

It's been two weeks since I replaced the valve body with one modified by Tozo.

No hunting, no drop out in fourth or fifth gear, clutch packs are holding up well, and most importantly minimal slippage in the torque converter regulation mode. The TCU did not relearn to hunt or any of it's previous "bad" behavior.

My only complaint is that it still shifts into fourth gear around 38 mph unless under heavy throttle, this makes the rpms drop off and there is a loss of torque to the wheels. Then when you try to get the car back into third gear, you have to mash the gas pedal and it ends up shifting into second gear.

Overall, I'm very happy with the rebuild and I've been driving in D whereas before I was always in tiptronic.

Default Cool -the early upshift is an economy measure-described in my car manual handbook

My own 4 speed car does it and the only answer is to drive hard so your trans remains in the action mode.
Maybe this is next for Tozo to look at???

Default glad to hear its running well for you tony. Mine does the same thing...

it will jump into 4th, sometimes 5th while doing my 25mph cruise to work. its really irritating to have to blip the throttle to get it to go back to 3rd or 4th and then it gets all confused. Granted mine has not been rebuilt yet but im guessing it will need it in the future. Trying to use Tip is a lil hairy too because the shifting is a little rough. it will, at times, delay before going to the next gear.

Default wouldn't it be nice

To set some "coding" so the tranny was always in "sport mode"? The older BMW's had a rocker swith. Just a single electrical pulse set the mode. Std, winter,or sport. What's not to like about that?

Default

This is how Audi escaped the gas guzzler tax. Up-shift early and lock the TC.
