Other ways to reboot MMI?

For the second time my MMI system needed to be reset. The first time it happened a simple 3 finger reset as shown in the manual worked without problems. This time I spent 15 minutes going back and forth and the system would not stay up. I could get it to reboot, MMI welcome screen shows, the radio would come on, no buttons other then volume would work, and a minute later it would crash then reboot itself.
As a computer consultant I'm used to finding other built in key combinations necessary to gain access to BIOS, etc. Either I found something that worked today or the computer finally reset itself correctly. After it crashed again (and rebooted and left itself turned off) I held the setup key down and pressed the MMI on/off button. Now it works.
Lucky or another reset? Anyone know of any combinations? In both crashes I had turned on or off the windshield wipers while the MMI was starting up. I'm now going to turn MMI off before I turn the car off.

Let Uno Kull of Audi know of your MMI issue. my screen sometimes comes up with the "black screen of Death" I send it down for a dunking in magic Audi ether, and it comes up and on. Uno is a district manager. Claims no problems with MMI exist. Let me know if you've got a fix more mine. Sorry I'm not of more help.
