Paging A8drifter
I am experiencing the chirp that changes with driveline speed. I had the problem after driving in deep snow at speed for an extended time
I had the brakes done while the car was in for other service and the sound is still exactly the same. It happens while driving straight or turning, and it could be just about anything... I did check the fluid in front and rear diff and they were full-up and with fresh fluid.

A possible answer:
I also had driveline chirp.

My chirping was a constant metallic squeel. It was definitely rotational in behavior. A8CT might
have additional tips to give as well. It ended up being the forward CV joint in the center driveshaft. I guess they are more prone to wear rather than the Ujoint or rear CV. (maybe they are the first to receive the torque?) Anyways, I replaced the center driveshaft and everything is fine. I replaced mine with a rebuilt shaft from wholesaleimportparts.com It was $416.40 + $60.00 core deposit. Price includes shipping. It took me a loooonnnng time to put it in, but I had a very basic means of a lift (jackstands) and I did it myself. If you have a lift or a tunnel like A8CT, then I'm sure you'd cut down on the labor time. Heck, if you went to an INDY, you'd maybe be charged 4 hours of labor? ECS quoted like 280 for the straight replacement alone. Its 1500 for a new AUDI OEM shaft so this was actually not bad at all.

Oh and if it is indeed the shaft...have these things ready
-new bolts for the exhaust clamps if not new clamps totally. ECS has em I believe.
-Degreaser to clean the flange area.
-The torx bit and hex bit (refer to Audipages on specific size)
-someone to keep you company...it gets lonely under there!

Check that the heat shields are not touching the shaft. They are pretty
thin could have been bent by the deep snow. I never had any rotational noise, just a clunk coming from the front CV.

Many thanks-- now I have a bunchof possible fixes!
I'll be looking at heat shields around the driveshaft, I'll be checking the rear CV's at the axle housing-- is this the right end to check?,
Boy-- always something!
Thanks!

Well if you ran the car on a lift, you would hear the CVs squeeling badly. My front CVs
were dry as a bone! I'm thinking that the seal failed at some point and leaked all the grease out.
