This is what we need to motorize out of your headliner. It is 1/4" thick, weighs 1 lb, and can be disassembled to be upholstered in matching Alcantara. The feet are removable, and it even has pic in pic for 2 separate sources at once. I can get them up to 22". Add a cooler behind the rear seat armrest in the pass thru and you never have to leave your car. Plus, the low profile of this unit will not protrude down from the headliner at all.

Notice the pen leaning on it.

Here it is in front of my laptop. This thing is HUGE!

The only thing is they do not sell to the public.
As for D3 pics, haven't done one yet. At the end of April I have one coming in that you can check out. It will get 2 9" widescreen lcd's motorized to fold down out of the the oem rear vanity mirror locations.
The hardest part will be getting a true aux input through the factory sound system, avoiding the FM modulated route which will degrade DVD audio quality. While I'm in there, I will try to get an aux video input for the front screen as well for video, back up or otherwise.

http://accelevision.com</a

Both use rear view cameras. You can:
Get rear view camera for use on oem screen of which I still need to figure out aux input for
MMI screen.
Replace oem rear view mirror w/ aftermarket that has a built in screen behind the glass and still functions as a mirror when off. This can be made to automatically switch on when the motorized screen lowers with some simple wiring.
Both options can double as back up camera.
Like I said, there's always a compromise, but these options make the compromise a little easier.
