Default Paging Paul W....on-demand tiptronic

Paul, recently you posted a list of modifications to your ride. One caught my attention....on-demand tiptronic...

There are many times I have wished that the shift paddle on the S8 would work without moving the lever. How difficult is the mod?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/182170.phtml">Paul's mod list</a></li></ul>

Default It's because I have a steering wheel out of an 02 or 03 A6 - That's why it works

It's the electronics in the steering wheel that make it work. If your A8 or S8 didn't have the function, you would need a new steering wheel and airbag from a car that has that function.

Why the airbag?
Isn´t it just the controller for the MFSW that needs to be upgraded/changed?
Do you have the partnr

Default Hmm...!

So all i need is a MFSW with airbag from -02 or -03!
Just cannot understand what the airbag has to do with it as my airbag should be identical, but 1 year older.

Default You would need an A6 from an 02 or later I believe

The function isn't really anything special IMO.

Default B6 has a different self cancelling ring than a D2

It has the same one as a D3....but I don't think they came with dual stage air bags...so not guaranteed to work and probably will have a airbag light on.

This is what the new Audi self cancelling rings look like:

And here is what ours look like:

Won't work, and it's wired differnt.
