Default Parked next to a new A8L last night

I was in the John Hancock building downtown Chicago in the parking garage. Parked next to a 04 A8L, was going to look at it, but right then two guys walked up to it to get into it.

Even my GF said something about the car to them. They had no idea that my car was an A8....I didn't even think they noticed it was an Audi.

I guess there are all sorts of owners out there!

What a shame.

But to make up for that, I had two gents pacing around my '04 A8L last night. They had their pre-Bangled 7 series parked next to mine. When I walked up to my car, one of them asked me if it was my car. when i told it was, he asked how i liked it. you know the answer to that one.

then he stated that he just purchased an S500 4Matic. He started complaining about the noise in the brakes. From the sound of this, he just seemed like he didn't like his car. He apparently knew the A8L since he wanted to confirm that it was the long wheelbase. He wished me good luck and gave a wonderful compliment on the color of my car.

so, there are some Audi guys who haven't a clue but there are others out there who really, in the terms of this current generation of kids, JOCK this car

Default The pre Bangle 740iS (sport model) is just beautiful!

I love that car, that is what inspired me to lower my car, my A8 was just not sitting right!

Hey, that's my company! (well, they sold that building yrs ago)
Anyways, you are right... some ppl. are oblivious to what they own vs. the history of their car's line.
I'll bet if I debadged my A6 4.2, I'd get ppl asking me what the hell it is. LOL

Default yes it is! I've had one other encounter with it...

occurred at a gas station.

It was an imola red seven (very nice color). I pulled in, they pulled out. but before they could, they stopped, passenger opened his window and gave me the thumbs up.

unfortunately, I was alittle befuddled by the encounter and I ended up ignoring them. I thought that they were maybe giving me the bird! turns out they were just complimenting. hope that didn't put a bad taste in their mouth.

anyway, this car definitely garners a tremendous amount of attention. sometimes, i care not for it and/or expect it. sometimes, it just makes my day!

Default OT -

You were right about the jumper for the phone. I had confused the 6 for 8 on my jumper (tiny tiny little numbers) and had only one side of the +/- wired through to the B pillar speaker. Works great now!

PS - further OP -Paul did you previously own this car? wondering if my memory is correct.

Default That wasn't my car, but I had one just like it (it is beautiful, isn't it?)

I had the same color, but stock wheels, no euro lights.

Remember I sent you a picture of it in the mail when we where getting a present together for DanS? I wish I had that picture again, don't have any of my old cars!

Glad you fixed the jumper, that's usually the problem!

That was my father's car. I thought he sold it to someone in Chicago who had a wrecked version of the same model, but now that I think about it there was also someone from CO who may have bought it.

I thought you might have been the new owner...

If I find the picture you sent I'll scan it!

Was it parked in some fall leaves?
