Default Parktronic problem

When I put my trans into reverse the Parktronic makes the usual beep but then makes a long tone. The long tone means that there is a failure of the system. The fault code says that the front noisemaker has a problem, but after replacing with new the samething happens and the same code comes up. I suspect that the control brain is bad. Anyone seen this before?

The OBD scan did not indicate a sensor in this case. And what it did indicate was the part I replaced but I still get the same code.

All I know is that the mechanic read the code stored in the Parktronic system and it said fault to pos on the front noisemaker. He did not say anything about the sensors because the VagCom says they are OK. What is it I should tell him ?

Default ask him to undertake "basic settings"

this is what the controller needs to initialise the sensor, and to understand it's thresholds etc...

it's an entirely electronic procedure, using the factory diagnostic software.

When I first got my used 2001 A8L it has a bad right front sensor that did not show up on the dealers diag but showed up on my ross tech vag-com. (Which frankly amazed the dealer, I brought the print out with me.). Unfortunatly the parking sensors now come unpainted so the dealer has to paint them for you (which seemed to take them forever). The problem has just come back (only a year later) and now it shows as the left front using the diag. I just wonder how reliable these sensors really are.......
