Default part numbers help (stuck on a Saturday)

Over on the S4 forum, it's fairly well known that the B5 S4 and the D2 S8 share their rear calipers. The S8 has larger rotors and longer pad/caliper carriers.

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/739012.phtml">clicky</a>
<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1444571.phtml">another clicky</a>

So, I'm upgrading my 2000 S4 to 2003 S8 rear rotors and have run into a bit of a snag: the parts I have don't fit the way I've been expecting. Specifically, the caliper doesn't fit completely over the pads:

The reason for this (I think) is that the carrier is expecting a larger caliper. You can see in this comparison of the carriers (new one on left, red lines show difference in shelf height relative to caliper mounting nuts):

It looks like I have bad information, bad parts or both. These are the parts I'm fitting:

* caliper carriers (4D0 615 425B)
* rotors (4D0 615 601B)

I'm positive that these parts go together, but they apparently don't go with my calipers.

Can anyone confirm that these are the right parts for a 2003 S8? Does anyone know if perhaps the 2000 B5 S4 has different calipers from later B5 S4s?

Thanks bunches,
Rob
