I do believe it is an A6 wheel, OEM or replica is anyone's best guess. If you're curious, pop off a wheel and look on the back side. If you see an Audi logo and part number you'll know for sure. I'm running OEM 20" 2007 S8 wheels at the moment (stock 18's for winter). Wheels are so subjective, so I just say roll with whatever you think looks good!
Is this your wheel?:

Oh, and nothing against Audi replica wheels; there are many good ones out there at a fraction of the cost of OEM. One option (I believe the first one is 2003 S8 style).

What size tires do you have on there? It may just be the angle of the photo, but the gap between fender and tire looks a little large for an S8. Tires should be 245/45 on 18" rims.

17's on an S8!!?? Somebody made a really stupid move with that "decision"...or it's all they had after selling the right wheels.
All D2 S8's came with 18" as the smallest wheel.
Those also look like lower profile tires you have...If that's the case, with 17" wheels, your overall rolling diameter is WAY off OEM, making the engine spin even faster (BAD mpg's and wrong speedo/odo reading) on a car (S8) that is already geared way lower than A8.
Again to satisfy our curiosity, look at the actual tire size and please let us know...and we'll let know just how far off that is. The size of the tire determines your overall rolling diameter...not the wheel size.

245/45-->245mm*.45=110.25mm*2 tire sides = 220.5mm/25.4mm per inch
=8.7" + 17" = 25.7" overall diameter
=8.7" + 18" = 26.7" overall diameter
Your S8 is sitting 1/2" lower than it should and your speed will read high on your current tires, and it just looks 'wrong.' The good thing is that 18" tires (and 20") prices are lower than 17" (and 19").

I've found going to a slightly larger rolling diameter tire cures the "high" reading of the stock speedo.
With the OEM tire sizes, the speedo reads slightly higher than actual GPS verified speed. (So, on mine it was indicating 85 when I was going 82mph.)
Every tire maker has slightly different rolling diameters, even on the same "size" tires. Check out the details when you buy tires, and get ones that are 1/2" larger than "stock/OEM" size.
You can do this by going wider in the same aspect ratio, or going up a side wall aspect ratio number/size depending on the brand.
My "winter" tires were the "OEM" size for my D3 on 18's, but are "too big" according to the charts/dealer for my D2.
But guess what? They are right on the money when it comes to the GPS speed indicated, and the taller tire is better in the snow for both traction and ground clearance too. (And I get slightly better fuel economy, since this slows down the engine to actual ground speed ratio.)
The S8 is geared pretty low, so this does not kill performance as much as it does with the standard A8 either. (You can feel the difference at low speeds, off the line, when you change from one tire size to the next, since it changes the final gear ratio in a very real way.)
