Paul you are a wealth of knowlege about A8's and I like your idea of solving it ourselves. BUT in todays world that doesn't wake up any manufactures. It's the bad press followed by the big bucks payout. I love Audi's and everything about them except I get really angry about how little AOA cares about our problems. If they really cared about us they would have been paying attention to our complaints and directed some of their resources into determining the cause. I have a higher mileage(105K)1999 A8 and I have the hunting and back down problems.

Just follow the threads on the D3 forum, they don't care abou the guys who buy their flagships new!

Too bad they have such talented design and manufacturing and can't follow it up on the back end.

If you follow the D3 forum, you will see that they don't care about customers with $ 80K ( and most of them will come back 3-4 years from now with another $ 80K )and they have warranty. They don't give a damn about us who buying these cars second hand with high mileage without warranty. They know that we love these cars and we going to buy them anyway. Look at it this way, if we don't have any transmission problem, we couldn't feel like a hero after a fluid flash ( counting all the 26 pan bolts )and make it going until the next flush, this could be a boring Lexus forum.

Used Kia's hold a higher percentage of their resale value than A8's, but I guess Audi figures nobody will notice.
