In Utah going towards Nevada on Highway 80. I had about 1/4 tank and started driving and figured that there would be a gas station eventually -- but then figured out I was 70 miles from gas with the mileage computer telling me I had 50 miles left. I drove for 20 miles with the trip/mileage computer telling me I had 0 miles to empty -- and made it to the gas station. I've often thought about neatly storing a couple gallons in the trunk but it just doesn't seem safe? Is it?

a real lug nut wrench (1/2" breaker bar and socket), a tow cable, flashlight, duct tape, zip ties, mechanic's gloves, a mylar blanket, a roll of paper towels, and I think there may be an MRE back there.
And by standard gear I mean the Audi trunk stuff and the Slim Pickens kit.
;-P

"Heck, a fella could have a pretty good time in Las Vegas with all that."
I'm ashamed to say I just watched Dr. Strangelove for the first time on Monday. What a riot!

I was about to express concern over the gas can as well, but more importantly, what is the partridge feeding on? Those pears can't be in decent shape.
