Possible Torque converter lockup and hunting solution

I'm considering intercepting the TC lockup signal and replaceing the TC lockup solenoid with a spare solenoid external to the trans to trick the computer to thinking it's there. Then I could use a B&M TC controler (see link) and a relay restore the connection to the trans TC solenoid at 65 MPH. Does any know if this scheme would work? Does anyone know what wire controls the TC lockup?
I love the A8 but my TC lockups up way too early. It often lockups up in 3rd gear, lowering the RPM to 1100 while I'm going up hill.
