Default Re: power steering pump howling

My pump is alos a bit loud. I changed fluid this week. It helped, but I might need to replace the pump. I check boneyards, Dad's in California want $145 for used. I went to local parts house, Reman price is about $160. I'll go reman if I decide to replace pump.
As far as replacing the pump goes, it looks pretty straight forward. In my opinion, you need the adjustable pin wrench to get the mechanical fan, and the pully off the pump. If you don't have one you will be frustrated. (I posted a link awhile back for a $5 version I found.)

Default Re:Or use an alan key

I forget the size, but there is one that will slide into the hole just fine and keep the tensioner off.

Default ECS Tuning sells them, as well... Where did you find the reman unit for $160?

A little more expensive @ $350.00 for a reman unit @ ECS.

Where did you find the unit for $160?

Default Try "Forte powersteering treatment". It worked wonders on my Audi Cabriolet

It's really good.

Default Now you're talking! Not much of a gamble if you were going to...

replace the PS as your first course of action, anyways. So thanks a lot for the recommendation, I will check it out.
