Pre Cat Oxygen Sensors

Pre Cat Oxygen Sensors
I have the dreaded engine warning light on and smog check is required. My local mechanic says Vagcom pulls warning codes 130 and 150. He wants to replace the the bank 1 and 2 pre-cat sensors for $877.
He quoted two sensors from McKenna Audi @ $269 a piece.
Audiworld search is down so I can't find any info.
Any help is appreciated...
Can you point me to prior links on the subject?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Pre Cat Oxygen Sensors
The mechanic that has the car insists that the non OEM sensors won't work and he won't install them.
I'm going to start at ground zero... Pull my own codes this weekend and than re-post with actual Vag Com data. Maybe the search feature will be up by than and I can tap into some prior wisdom.
BTW - I don't think this guy is trying to rip me off, he has had bad experience with non-OEMs on German vehicles. He did suggest doing a reset and than doing the smog check before the light comes back on, after about 80 miles. Works sometimes in his experience, but not as much w/ German cars.

These work
$49 at Amazon (the one on the left IIRC)
Bosch 15733 Oxygen Sensor

Way easier if you remove the trans. first
If not..
I thought I read somewhere the passenger side was harder to do than the drivers.. or vice versa.
Either way do it, then go out to a real nice dinner.
