Hello all,

I have a 1997 A8 and want to change my passenger mirror assembly (small mirror) to the larger one like the drivers side.

I think I have read that an A4 (of similar year)passenger mirror is interchangeable, but was wondering if someone had the specific info. Has anyone BTDT?

Is there any definitive answer on if an A4 mirror (1997-99) is a direct replacement?

It really depends. I've tried A4, A6s, even A8s. I think I got the A4 to fit but it didn't really line up and I kinda had to force it in there. The A6 didn't fit at all. I have a bag full of mixed and matched mirror assemblies.

I'd say buy one cheap off of ebay, $20-30 and give it a shot, you'll have to use some pieces off of your existing hardware. Not very difficult just frustrating when you take everything off and then the new one won't fit properly.

I would just buy a set of post facelift mirror assemblies and retrofit them, you have to mix and match a few parts from my understanding.

My understanding is that later model 99 came with the same size as the drivers side. My 99 has the larger mirror on the right side.
