I put it on at about 4:30 today, it was dark out by then.....picked my friend Jeff up and dropped him off at Midway, he's flying out to get his A8 in the morning....needless to say he was excited!

It looks very cool, study the pictures for a few seconds and you'll see the S8 grill is vertical with horizontal strips in the back (and what appears to be a large free air area) and the A8 grill is horizontal with vertical strips in the back.

The S8 grill is granite, and the A8 grill is black....badges are self explanatory.....

It looks hot installed!

What do you mean by "pre facelift"-----what year marked the "facelift" as opposed to the "pre facelift"
I have an 02 S8 whose grill is the same as the S8 grill you show--with the horizontal strips "behind" the verticle ones (the S8 badge is different however)I had assumed that the previous owner had it painted light silver to match the body--(as are the lower fog and center grills--below the L plate)
But, your pre facelift grill also looks light silver in color---I had thought that the S8/ 2002 grills were black (as on the A8)--
Maybe it's just the flash on your camera that makes the S8 grill look silver?
Please fill me in.

The grill is granite versus black. Slight color change. From my understanding, the facelift grill will not fit the pre facelift hood.

In 2000, the A8 was facelifted to include:

new armrest, CAN bus, slight changes to the dash, double DIN radio, different leather on seats, new bumpers, lower grill, hood, mirror assemblies, etc.

In Europe, it was the 99 that was the facelift.

The S8 never came to the states until 2001, but in Europe there were pre facelift S8's with a 32 valve 330 HP motor, and other assorted goodies.

I'm slowly turning my A8 into a pre facelift S8.....

All I know for sure is that my 2002 S8 grill has the verticle bars "on top of" the horizontal ones--as in your S8 grill pictured--and it's painted light silver to match the body color of the car.
So, I guess the S8 grills are different from the A8---and in my case--the previous owner had it painted out (along with the fog and center lower grills---which I guess are also black on a "regular" 2002 S8)
