Default Problem with '97 Tip Conversion, not compatible?

I was talking to this mechanic who used to do a lot of work on my VW's years ago, he has been wrenching at a local VW dealership for many many years. So, I told him that I was doing the tip conversion on my 97 A8, and he warned me not to, saying that it won't work due to the valve body not being compatible or something like that? I didn't want to argue with him until I talked to you guys, anyone heard anything about this? How many of you have done the conversion?

Thanks,

TT

Default My dealer also said that the lifetime tranny fluid should not be

changed because the new and old fluid would not 'gel' right. That will cause the impending failure. I never believe the dealer. They are a bunch of cronies. b

Man, if my tranny fluid ever "gelled" I'd need a new one! What complete imbeciles.

Default He's not correct, it's just a hydraulic circuit

The TCU and wires would not be there if it couldn't be done.
