I bought a set of Pirelli Pzero Asymetricals about 1.5 years ago off ebay....245/50/17's the same thing I had on my car.
Buy it now for $325 for 4 tires! They had something like less than 100 miles on them, never unwrapped them. At the time, they were $225 each at the tirerack. Had them installed today....two of them had the colored lines on them as you see in the picture (those are my original tires) and two had the lines worn off, but were in absolutely new condition!
Brought it to a guy's place two blocks from my house....told him how I wanted a two plane dynamic balance, etc, etc....he showed me the five ways he could do it, I told him how to do it and he took care of me! It was $120 to do all four wheels including tire disposal and new stems....but still really cheap for a new set of shoes!

If you have wheel weights on the inboard side and outboard side of your wheel, that's a two plane balance, normally referred to as a "dynamic balance". They can either be mounted on the rim face, or sticky weights on the inboard and outboard side of the flat inner part of the wheel.
If you just put weights in the middle of the wheels with sticky weights, that's a single plane balance, or normally referred to as a "static balance".
Here is a google image search.....it might be hard to see what it means, but the wheel is treated as two seperate balance planes (inboard and outboard), which can create offset vectors, versus a static balance creates a vector in line with the centerline of the wheel, which is not always where the "residual imbalance" is.....the weights just offset the residual imbalance to make the total residual imbalance vector as small as possible.
I sell rotating equipment repairs for a living so I've been at this for a long time.

After looking at the picture.....my description is not completely acurate to what is shown.....but each tire machine has something like six settings....weights on inner and outer rims....weights in the center....two planes of weights in the center.....etc.

I'm considering these vs. going to an 18" wheel for the XK8 my wife will soon be driving.
There is nothing else in this size except the SP5000 and Mich PS A/S. Since we'll be living in Miami at that point, there won't be any use for all season, in fact they'd just be a detriment.
I'd prefer to go with Goodyear F1 GSD3's but can't get them in that size - so I'd have to upgrade to 18's to use them.
Curious what your take is on these tires after some seat time, re hydroplane resistance, wet handling, dry handling, turn-in, noise, etc.

1. They wear fast. I've used them for two summer seasons including three track events and they wer down to absolutely nothing.
2. They aren't that loud, louder than my winter all seasons, but expected.
3. They handle well.....but really don't have anything to compare to. Have done well on the track.
4. They suck in wet weather.....or at least after the first season they did....

does it impact performance...tire wear to an appreciable degree? Thanks..so much information.
