I'm still trying to see if this article holds any merit:

I had seen from other that only 300 2003 "old style" A8s will be shipped to dealers. Is this confirmed? If so, then there might not be any pressure on dealers to "give away" these cars as the article describes.

Also, is there any confirmation on when the new style 2004 A8 will be available? I have heard anywhere from February to June...

I do know we are limited to whatever cars have already been produced, because the old A8 factory line has been shut down.

Exact dates of release are often cloudy until the last few months. I've heard late Spring for North America.
