Default Quoted $900 labor for TB change.

Sound right?

Parts from Wendy are in the works, should save me a few hundred there.

Default From the dealer? That sounds fair, probably quoting you 10 hours at $90/hr

I couldn't really do it any faster myself, maybe a little bit, but I would most likely include 2 of those hours for cleaning....they don't clean.

And if it is the dealer, you get a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty, but if you buy your own parts, I don't know what they'll honor.

Good luck!

Default I paid $1,300 at a dealer, including parts. Make sure you get the tensioners,

and do the water pumb at the same time.

As long as I provide Audi parts, they'll honor the 12/12.

Default I'll be changing my t.b. soon as well -

My mechanic quoted me $680 (belt & labor only). I wanted him to do the water pump while he's in there, but he said it'd be an extra $450 - seems kind of high, since I've read here that Wendy sells it for $64. But if I let him get the parts, at least he'll warranty the work.

Default Dealer price quote with detail.

90k service $753-
Oil & Filter cnahge, tire rotation, Air filter, Pollen filters, and spark plugs. $300 labor, $453 parts.

T.B. replacement- $1,588
TB $60, Idler pulleys $170, Tensioner $178, Damper $188, Harmonic balancer bolt $18,
TOTAL parts = $613, Labor =-$975

Water Pump replacement-$633
Pump & Bolts $340, Gasket $9, Thermostat $55, Gasket $2.50, Coolant $38.11.
TOTAL parts = $445, Labor = $188

Coolent hose replacement - $96
Upper hose $25.5, Lower hose $33. Labor $37.50.

I'm goping to skip the "90k service" for $753. I'll also argue the Pump cost-$188 additional labor?

Default Since you are bringing you're own parts, here is what I would do........

I would stop by the service desk in person and ask them to take off 1 hour labor on the TB job and 1 hour on the water pump.

Let them know that you would prefer to do business with them but they need to meet your "other" quotes on labor costs.

You have to ask to receive.
Worst case scenario, they will say no.

Default Anyone have any luck getting their dealer to discount parts? Some

dealers offer 15-20% discount to Audi Club NA members. My dealer offered 15% on a Tech Day, and I later added a tailight lens and got the discount. That's a small item, and not sure what they would offer on major parts, but it can't hurt to ask.
