Default Quoted $95 for transmission service

Called my Audi Dealer for a transmission fluid change. They told me that it's not recommended so I called a local guy who said he's done many of these - $60 for the fluid, $35 labor. Sounds almost too inexpensive. Am I missing something?

Be SUPER CAUTIOUS that they know what they're doing. I went by Jiffy Lube just for giggles on what they'd charge (I thought it would be nice if I could supply the fluid and they could change the filter and all 8 quarts instead of just 4 with the pan drop) and they said $69 until they looked under the hood. "Where's the tranny dipstick?".... They didn't know how to measure when it was full. I explained to them the process, they wouldn't touch it. Wouldn't drop the pan and do the filter either. Make sure it's a shop that deals w/ these cars on a regular basis.

Default NO WAY

Hey,

Be sure you know what you are getting.

Is the guy doing to drop the trans pan and change the filter, or just drain the old fluid and pump in the new stuff?

He can probably drain the old fluid and add 4 quarts of new fluid, but you still have 3 quarts of old fluid, and a dirty filter.

Good luck,
Barry

Default Well, an independent Should be able to do it with the audipages guide. Pay them more to do it right.

If possible, be there to "help" hold the writeup... and good luck.

Default Yeah, it didn't seem right to me......

The guy told me they reuse the filters becasue they are able to be cleaned. Seems too cheap to me and obviously to the rest of you as well. Thanks for the info.
