ran aground
First, really like the h&r suspension set up...even though I managed to run over something a while ago. The force of the impact (& less ground clearance) was enough to nearly tear the stiffener bar underneath the car apart. It is basically ripped apart on the left hand side where it is bolted to the unibody. It looks like it may be .75" sq stock with a few notches milled out in certain places and is located near the front half of the car. Does anyone know where I can get another one? The dealer wants 285.00. thanks

Re: What stiffner bar are you referring too? The front sway bar?
The bar I speak of is connected to the bottom of the floor pan. It is bolted to areas on either side of the transmission tunnel.

Paul, there's a lower companion to the top strut support bar
that S8s (and post-facelift A8s?) have.
Makes a nice structural rectangle, basically. It's attached where the front sub-frame bolts to the unibody, which is my front jack stand support point.
Go to MY 2000, illustration 805-20, parts 10&11, among other hardware, in ETKA. I'm pretty sure that's what he's talking about.
