Default Yep, that's me. I guess they don't want a later pic :-(

This is what happens when someone high on drugs drives a Toyota thru an intersection under a red light. He tried to flee the scene, was caught one block away, and given a blood test on the spot after an ambulence arrived. Nuts ... 5-1/2 years without even a parking lot ding. My neighbors knew I tracked the car, and they assumed someone had tried to put me into the wall. At least no one was hurt.

On the bright side,

- I found a body shop that specializes in Ferrari, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Range Rover (lots of aluminum experience).

- His insurance paid for everything, ~$6k.

- The frame was undamaged, and a two-year-old front end alignment was unchanged.

I got the car back ~2 weeks ago, and the only way I could tell that something had happened was that the driver's side door hinges were clean. I grease all the hinges annually, and those were new. Phewww, what an ordeal.

Default One big problem- they call it an A8, not an S8!

Randy- sorry to hear of your encounter with a drugged idiot! At least you are unharmed and the S8 is bak into good shape!

Glad you're OK! That could have been a lot worse. Good to hear the damage is cosmetic. Right?

Default Aside from a lump on the side of my head, everything was cosmetic.

My head bounced off the driver's side window, but none of the air bags deployed. Though I never tried the window (I didn't want it stuck open), that door still opened and closed normally.

Any issues not using an aluminum specialist per Audi?

I believe that's only necessary/recommended with frame damage.
