Default Randy.. your opinion on brake setup..

I was going to purchase ECS 2 piece slotted rotors with the Ferodo DS2500 pad for the fronts. The rears seem to be on.. i have stock rotors with ebc greenstuff on the rears.

Do you have any other suggestions? I really dont care about dust since i wash the car like every weekend.

Default I'm interesting too, but have questions...

OEM rotor for my car has size 314x30. ETKA said all '95-'99 A8 have that size.
ECS said - they have ECS CrossDrilled & Slotted OEM Audi Rotor - 12.3 (312x25).
Is it fit to my car?

And will I feel benefit of 2 piece rotors during regular city drive if buy kit - (ECS Tuning 2-Piece, Floating, Replica Rotor Kit-Cross-drilled & Slotted)

Default I believe I have those: Ferrodo DS2500 produce a lot less dust than OEM brake pads. But...

...they do squeel like pigs when weather conditions are above 50 deg Fahrenheit. When you stop at a traffic light, people who have their car windows down will look at you with a mean expression on their faces thinking "Get your brakes fixed!".

Default True, but man do they stop the car. I think that slotted rotors would help with the noise. Every

time that I get into the brakes and practice my late apexes on the back roads and they hang me from the seatbelt I am amazed and just grin. Drove a car with stock pads the other day and all I could think when I was stopping was OH SH#T this thing is not going to stop. I will never go back to stock pads.

Default Another but...they only really start working better than stock when you heat them...

...up as you describe practicing on back roads or on the track. In daily driving my Ferrodo's don't stop the car as quickly as stock pads when they're "cold". I keep more distance from cars ahead of me.

Default 314X30?? Is that euro spec? Im pretty sure 95-99 is 312x25

Just the fact that the rotors reduce unsprung weight might help the car ride slightly better. However my reason for purchasing is for the better curved cooling vents. On the highway they have a better cooling ability since it will move more air volume. Also, the "floating" design allows for protection againt warping rotors.

Default I have slotted rotors now and my pads squeel..

For the most part you can eliminate squeeling in you are very generour with the brake pad lube on the back of the pad. This time i didnt use any so i expected squeeling..

There is a company that produces a silicone like substance that is black in color and it spreads like butter. However you need to let it sit for an hour before installing the pads.

Default May be for Europe only. OE # 441 615 301 AA. Brembo, ATE, Lucas shows same size.

You can see yourself typing brembo number 09.7728.10 in search field

Catalog Brembo

So what are you recommending? I need new pads and rotors, but have no idea what to order. The last green stuff pads warped my new rotors fairly quickly. I would like to find:

1) Quiet, low dust pads that stop well and do not squeal.

2) Rotors that do not warp in 3 or 4 months

Any suggestions?

Default The combo i just ordered should be the answer

The 2 piece floating rotors allow for expansion of the rotor and prevents warping. I went with a semi track pad that will probably make some noice when cold the Frodo 2500's. They do have the Ferodo 2000's that are a street pad which will probably not make much noise. The only catch is that this will probably run you $650 for front rotors and pads but its worth it. You get what you pay for. A friend of mine has the floating rotors on his A4 he loves them.
