Rear wiring harness

Re: Have you ever see this page?
Yep, in fact I used it to put together the order for my TB parts. I didn't feel comfortable doing it myself, but saved a bunch using your form to get the parts from Wendy.

Re: Are these the problems we tried to troubleshoot about six months ago here?
Very same problems. I never got the lights working but since it has been summer and I've spent it at the lake, I haven't been too motivated to do much outside of work.
I appreciate your help. Since the dealer is an hour away, I will have them explain it to me when I go to pick it up and see if I can get enough info to make it make more sense.
Thanks again,
Sam

My illumination problem was with the lighter.. it was shorted.
After i replaced the wire in the back of the lighter and changed the fuse everything worked again.. but that was caused from me ripping out the dash.

If they planned on replacing that
I wouldn't let them. There is a very good chance they will do more harm than good.
And if they are planning on replacing it, trust me, they don't know what the problem is.
It's probably a bad ground, TTuling had it down to the connection as I remember and I had to ask him how he came to his conclusion and he taught me something new about the wiring diagrams I never knew before.
Now to find that thread.......that's the hard part.

Re: If they planned on replacing that
Yes sir, I told them to hold off on that. I will go back and find the thread if I can.
Paul, thanks for all your help.
By the way, since all of us A8 owners are familar with transmission, I am driving an A6 with the CVT. It is pretty cool. Very smooth, and fun to watch the tach as you pick up speed and then the RPMs just smoothly go down. No herk, no jerk. I kind of liked it. When I pushed it hard, it reacted. I also ran it through the manual selection process and it was pretty fun.
All in all though, I miss my A8.

Here's at least one of the threads
TTuling's states:
The wiring diagram designations are B108 "in wiring harness interior, right, rear" and 60 "near taillight, right".
If either ground is bad, trunk light voltage can go through the reverse lights to energize the mirror control, and reverse light voltage can go through the taillights to tell the instrument cluster that the parking lights are on.
This explains neither why the central console doesn't light up when you turn on the headlights nor why the check engine light came on. Those could be separate problems.
This is what I would be checking first.....cost of repair - $0.00....just clean and repair the ground connection.
As I mentioned, I think you get up to Oak Brook on occassion, you can stop by now that I have the performance center.
