rebuilt/reman tranny life expectancy?
Let's say that long term I end up with a rebuilt or reman transmission for the 1999 A8 I have.
How long should I expect it to last? Another 100K miles?

Yes.
The warranty will be less, but since all the clutches and seal being replaced, it should last as long as the original lasted. It could be 30K miles as some had problems under warranty (when the car was new) or it could go forever. There are A8s out there with over 200K miles on the original tranny.

Well, I had the tranny rebuilt om my 97 3.7 at 270K - original fluids until 250K, and as the old girl is about to turn 400K, I just bought an 01 4.2
