Recoded to 00011, still feels "slippery" AND it now acts a little psycho.

wow, great info dstott thanks
I like the 00001 recode to hold 1st gear, but tranny preservation is more important. How can I notice DSP working? I dislike the US oem setting, but I feel like I have no choice at 99k miles and regular fluid changes in the tranny.

Maybe you know this already...but the "control arm service campaign" is a one time freebie. If
you're control arm is ok at the time of inspection, you have used up your freebie. If it fails one month afterwards, they still wont replace it (well for free). If you think that your lower straight arm is failing, have an indy take a quick inspection of the ball joints before you take it to an Audi dealer. My $0.02

I have concerns in that area and it is becoming clear that the previous owner did NOT care...
for the car as well as he said he did (or even appeared to). I'm even more disappointed by the shop that did the buyer's inspection because they've missed stuff that has cost me good money. A big reason I'm having the road test done at the dealer is to get a more experienced opinion of how the car should handle.

Be very careful!!
As I have mentioned here before and Tozo has agreed, if your tranny is older and you start playing with it you might be asking for trouble. As for my own experience after recoding the tranny, several days later is when it started acting up and I lost the clutch A housing and went into limp mode. Tranny rebuild was the only way out of that mess.
People should be careful with changing these tranny settings ***** nilly, they bite back! Just my 2 cents worth. I rebuilt my own tranny, coded where I wanted it and I am leaving it alone. I probably won't change out the oil anymore either.

They take a torsion bar to pry the ball joints to see if there is any little movement.
Call any dealer with your VIN and they will tell you if the campaign is still good. I believe its only on certain VINs. You should have maintenance records though. Some dealers are forgiving, some arent.

I would recode it to 00002 and leave it alone.
You had enough trouble with your car already, don't ask for more. If you want a little more performance out of your car, keep it in 4th or even 3rd. 10% more fuel consumption will be cheaper, than a tranny rebuild.

Re: I would recode it to 00002 and leave it alone.
I agree, the rpms are low as it is, even in 3rd or 4th. For city traffic, 40 mph in 5th is pointless and should be avoided by selecting gears yourself. I feel that 5th gear comes on way to soon and is not good for pulling the weight of the car.
I wish I knew about this, and the DSP recode/ possible torque lockup damage a few years ago at 30k on the odo.
