I went to have my transmission rebuild by my extended warranty place, and after two weeks I noticed that transmission is leaking and it has red transmission fluid. Is it ok to run regular transmission fluid.

Then ask Tozo if it is OK to use. The safest route is to only use the VAG fluid, which is a yellowish-clear fluid.

From Tozo's picture poster:

We put this in my transmission after the rebuild, works fine. If your transmission was rebuilt, all the old fluid was removed.....
However, if it wasn't this stuff specifically, it might not work exactly as required.

I use Valvoline for years now and there is no problem with it whatsoever. I used Mobil 1 on my car before I converted it.

Transmission fluid mystique!
What functions and qualities for fluids in a transmission application?
Lubricate
Cushion
Heat transfer
Service life
Shouldn't the service requirements of most contemporary transmissions be similar? Perhaps service life is the big one. Just as Mobile 1 is "superior" to dino lube. Pentosin may offer enhanced service life over Dexron.
I like the feeling a fresh refill of oil gives me. Out with the old, and in with the new. And a filter too!
If the transmission requirements are met with "red" fluid, just change in a reasonable time period. "CHANGE EARLY, CHANGE OFTEN!
Now if I could just understand the difference between Dexron and Mercron.....
With a recent filter and fluid change, I used Amsoil ... It's read, and works fine so far.
Costs just about as much as Pentosin, but easir to obtain

Yes, tranny oil is hydraulic fluid and it should be pretty generic. You would think.
It isn't quite, arguably. The "cushion" function you mentioned is probably the core of it. There are friction modifiers tailored to various clutch materials, configurations (band or pack) and modes of application and we don't know what the specs are. Neither the formulators nor the tranny makers have shared technical specs I have ever seen. I'd like to.
"Wrong" fluid would invalidate warranty claims on covered cars.
There may be differences in lubrication quality. A couple of decades ago tiny amounts of sperm oil (yes, from the whale) were taken out of ATF formulations becuase of cost and availability and it had a bad effect. This was said to be linked to the GM THM200 tranny failures, which were endemic, they ate hard parts like popcorn.
Then there is the issue of compatibility with seal materials, adhesives etc. in a particular tranny/ fluid combo.
Just thoughts. Happy Thanksgiving. It is 70 degrees in Bethesda, MD.
