Default Relay trouble, What the heck is going on!?!

OK, I am totally stumped. I have wired up my radio so that I get power switched on and off with the radio. I have the remote power wire hooked up to the acc power pin of the radio. I have verified that this pin only has power when the radio is on. I have a power wire coming in from the fuse box using the fuse tap the previous owner left in there. I also have the ground coming in from one of the bolts on the fuse box, which is where the previous owner had his ground. Then I have the output power pin hooked to my ipod adapter. Everything worked fine when I installed it, powered on and off with the radio. I start the car and hear the thing clicking like crazy!!! I disconnect the power from the fuse tap and the damn thing still is clicking like crazy! The clicking only stops when the ground wire is removed, proving that the ground works at least. And it is not the relay, this is the second relay I installed and the same bloody thing is happening. What the hell is going on?!?

Default You have the relay power going through a normally closed contact.

When it is closed it energizes the relay, it pulls in and break the contact and it goes on and on.........

Default You connected the 12V to the wrong terminal.

You connected it to a normally closed terminal that wired to the + leg of the relay. It powers the relay, but when the relay pulls in it cuts the contact. As soon as the contact is cut the relay pops out and the contact is closed again. It works like the old doorbell.

30 is 12V and 87 is whatever you want to run.

Default That explains it.

I am still perplexed as to why it worked with the way it is wired when the motor was off. I'll swap the connections tomorrow and see if it works.
