Hello all,
Last night my remote key stopped working. I locked the doors with the remote and when I tried to unlock, nothing. I was able to manually unlock the car with the key in the door but this set off the alarm. I shut off the alarm with the trunk lock and it is still off with the trunk lock in the verticle position. When I tried to reset the remote with the standard protocol, I got nothing. The car starts with both keys and the doors and trunk lock/unlock manually. I can lock/unlock the doors with the inside button or with the trunk lock. Also, the inside truck button opens the trunk. When I originally got the car, I bought a spare key which the dealer programmed but they were unable the program the remote. I left it at that because one key/remote worked fine. I never was able to program the spare remote although the key would start the car. It seems the car is not receiving the signal from the remote transmitter. Otherwise the locks are working normally and the alarm is certainly working. Any help would be appreciated.

The car is an '01 S8, sorry I forgot to mention that.

to maximum for a fwe seconds then remove key -then unlock again holding key in turned position for a few seconds
