This is a response to skiracer, he was asking what I have used on my key job that I got in January, thought everybody would like to see it.
I find that most scratches and "paint rubs" that deposit other paint on top of your car can be removed with Zymold HD Cleanse. It's very non abrasive and if you end up rubbing your whole car out with it (it's a pre wax cleaner), your car looks significantly cleaner!

However, when I tried to clean up my key scractch on my car, I found that I "cloudied up" the area where I used the rubbing compound that was 15 years old. (I would never recommend using rubbing compound on your A8, I just had a HUGE key job done on my car!) It was January and very cold, so I waited until a few weeks ago to work on it again.
I used this 3M finish restorer on those areas where the rubbing compound was used and it cleaned it up and removed all the small scratches.

Everything was done with just elbow grease on a clean rag.
If you've never used a pre-wax cleaner on your car, you would be surprised how many scratches you could get out of it! Then I use a good wax (Zymol), I know a lot of people speak very highly of McGuire's clay. Never tried it.
BTW, the large bottle of HD cleanse and a tub of wax is about $65, but the wax will last about 8 years! You don't use much after you clean the car!
