Just ordered new glass (eurocarparts.com) to replace the yellowed headlamp glass (they've lasted 110 000 miles) for better brightness (I've also got an A6 (new) with Xenons and I feel blind in the A8). I've put better bulbs in already.
Anyone got any advice on how easy/difficult it is to do the switch or should I leave to my friendly mechanic?
Also ordered OEM mudflaps and I presume they're easy to fit.
Thanks in advance, for yet another piece of advice from the users of this forum

Just remove the entire headlight from the car via the instructions below.....open the hood, unscrew the trim below the headlight (on screw) and remove the four screws that hold the headlight on.
The headlight and corner marker comes off by pulling forward, unplug it, and that's it.
The glass is held in by clips around the headlight.....change the glass and install.

Maybe my mechanic friend will do it for me. He's got a lifter after all and all the right sockets.(plus he's due to replace 2 brake light switches to get my cruise working again).
Thanks yet again for the instructions.
Hopefully it will make the lights a bit brighter and safer.

Per my post, just follow the instructions for taking the headlight out.....five screws (one trim, four headlight) and one electrical connector.
No need to take the bumper off.

I couldn't see how to remove the trim below the light from the diagram but no doubt it will become obvious when I actually look at the car itself (when the missus brings it back tonight).
Many thanks for yet another money saving post

I use eurocarparts.com based in the UK where I am. They may post worldwide if you check though. Good site for parts which may become harder to get seeing as my car is nearly 10 years old now.
