Default Rough Idle problems...

ive been suffering with rough idleing problems for quite a while now... recently i discovered that my mechanic had earlier replaced my sparks with generaic sparks with 3 tips (no Bosch +4 as in OEM) during a tune-up

he claims that the qualityof the plugs is high and that this is not the reason for the rought idle.

VAg usually throws up a "random cylinder misfire" code now and again...

can these spark plug be the reason for the missing?

Default The spark plug could cause problems if its not gapped correctly.

My A6 2.8 used bosch tri electrode plugs. Are they bosch? I used oem when i changed mine.

Default Most likely you have a clogged fuel injector: use 2 bottles of Techron on a full tank and...

wait for results between 3 and 10 days depending on how much you drive. If this solves it, replace the fuel filter. The problem may still return: try again with Techron.

I have had the same problem: airbil and PaulW looked at it and solved it with Techron. Replacing spark plugs didn't make a difference.

See all my Techron promotions by doing a forum search for "Techron" and account number 31455.

Default Re: Rough Idle problems...

I'd run a tankful of Amoco Ultimate. That cleared up a failed emissions test for a co-worker of mine. I might even be cheaper to run every third tankful. Ultimate has a very high detergent package and I run it all the time.
