Default Rubbing Noise

Hi. My '97 has a rubbing noise coming from the front driver's side wheel. Sounds like metal on metal.

When I am driving straight, the car is skittish, with the steering wheel zig-zagging back and forth slightly. When I go around a sharp curve, it gets really loud and my steering wheel snaps back and forth. Feels like a brake line is getting caught in the wheel spokes or something. I am running 245-45R18's on 18" ASA AR1's.

I just had both front wheel bearings replaced along with the driver's side front outer CV joint, driver's side outer tie rod end, and both front brake pads and I was going to have the alignment done tomorrow, but I am nervous about getting it done with the car like this.

Any ideas? I haven't taken the wheel off and taken a look or anything yet.

Peace... Sridhar

Default In what shape are your control arms? Is the wheel horizontally centered in the wheel well?

If not, I would not even drive it.

And if my wheel is centered properly?

Peace... Sridhar

Default Don't know unfortunately. I hoped it would eliminate some possibilities as far as the origin of...

...the noise.

I got the wheel off. It looks like that the brake line is rubbing against the wider wheel. How do I go about bending it out of the way?

Peace... Sridhar
