Anyone understand the process by which S8s are being allocated. My understanding is dealers get so many per month and place orders accordingly. From the time your order gets placed from allocation to delivery is about 3 months. First ones should arrive February. Is this correct?

I think my dealer is getting one per month or
fewer. I finalized my order last week, for a
Jan production car (the first car at this dealer).
Mine will be here end of February.

we only get as many as will sell, and there will only be like 100 orders for the whole midwest!

I'm 3rd in line with a deposit for the S8 at my dealership. They're telling me they think they're getting 1 car a month (max. of 5 total) and mine should be available for delivery in March (worst case). I was at the San Francisco Auto show over the Thanksgiving holiday and another SF Bay Area Audi dealer told me that once your serial number is assigned by Audi you should expect delivery in about 6-8 weeks which includes transit time. So if you have one "on order" ask your dealer for the serial number and that will confirm you're actually getting the car within a reasonable period of time.
