I am thinking about changing out the upeer and lower grilles on the front of my car with s8 grilles , chrome with anthracite. Will these fit and does anyone have pix?

The pre facelift did not have special lower grills, just upper one.

I don't believe the face lift grill will fit your 99. I got mine from a 98 S8 from the UK.

Thanks Paul. Is that for sure? Has anyone out there tried it and found that it didnt work. Whats confusing is that the factory parts book says years '99-'04 for the part and there are 2 different kinds available from the S8, anthracite, and black. I usually order my parts from parts4vw.com. Did they make it available in anthracite for the pre-facelift years?

Another option is modifying the existing grill to look more like the Volvo S60R grilles (larger grid). Has anyone tried this as well?

If you notice the prefacelift grill has a rounder, pillowy lines, while the facelift is straight.

I took the simple route. I took the grille off and painted it charcoal grey metallic. I applied factory laquer over it afterwards. I'll post pix later, but I'm very pleased with the outcome. It makes it stand out enough to be sporty and agressive, but its not too out of the ordinary. Its especially sporty in the sun.
