Default Satellite Radio 04 A8L

I talked to my Audi Advocate today and he said June availability for XM or Sirius satelite radio for 04 A8L. Cost about $350.00 for the converter. No other details. I am assuming it will play on the MMI and show the stations and info on the MMI display.

I hope it has better integration than the V60.

Default Just what I was thinking :-(

I see we are promised the same phone set in the new A6 as in the A8 - why? I would have hoped we would get something which actually works.

I also see that Audi is making all sorts of promises for the A6 as it did for the A8 just before it came to NA.

Default I assume your MMI "How To Book" rec'd with delivery...

shows the XM or Sirius directions as mine does?

It's will operate thru MMI with same functionality as the FM or CD according to my book in glove box.

Default No MMI "How To Book" shipped with my '04 A8L

Your car is probably a "newer" model '04, and apparently has a newer manual. Mine has no reference to XM or Sirius.

I was wondering, for the benefit of those here with "older" '04's, if you could post those pages here for us, if there are not too many?

Thanks.

Default No info on XM or Sirius in my MMI manual (serial 8170)

I'm hoping that it integrates into my MMI OK. As posted below can you post the pages on the forum?

Default Here's some STUFF from MMI Manual

By the way the manual is titled 2004 Audi MMI Manual - Operating Instructions (english 11/03-243.562.691.21. It also says only valid for for A8L owners after 11/03.

Pages 36 thru 79 relate to Radio/CD

Page 43 is the first mention of Satellite station list. You will access from the "Band" list and appears after FM / AM/ Satellite Radio. If you have XM then XM appears as the "choice", if Sirius then Sirus appears as the "choice".
Page 54 - Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service

"In addition to the radioin your vehichle, a tuner module has to be installed in order to receive satellite programs. At the present time , tners ar available from these providers. XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. If you would like to retrofit a tuner, please consult your Audi dealer."

"By operating the BAND control button, you can select Radio Satellite mode(XM or Sirius)page 46. If you have not yet installed a tuner in your vehicle, the BAND function will not display the Satellite option.

"The MEMORY control button functions the same for all bands FM,AM,XM or Sirius>page 45
Note: Only one tuner module can be instlled in a vehicle at a time."

The next section goes into setting up the recetion signal entering the s/n, etc.

I have a CD question...do you have to go thru the process of "naming"( physically typing) each CD and song title for it to be display? I thought for sure this thing would be smart enough to display CD album titles and songs without "typing". Maybe newer CD's ( I only have some older ones - I don;t by CD's too often )have the ability to be "READ" by MMI?
