Default Saw my first real centrifugal supercharger install yesterday

Went to a local BMW M5 get together with my friend.....saw some nice cars, drove in and got a chance to drive the new M5 (wicked beyond all belief).....but this guy had a cool M5 with a supercharger:

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/images/sm_DSC00045.JPG">

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/images/sm_DSC00047.JPG">

It had an intercooler and a sprayer for the intercooler.....what exactly do you spray on the intercooler? NOS of course, it's not for the engine, but for spray on the intercooler. I would think you would just mist it with water.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/images/sm_DSC00049.JPG">

Look how they installed an electric fan so they could get room for the pulley belt.....it has the same system as the A8 with the viscous clutch stock.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/images/sm_DSC00053.JPG">

The workmanship was just awesome......but then he started it, revved it like it was going to 5K in neutral (which I wouldn't do).....but then it sounded like it either had a bearing going south on the supercharger rotor or maybe that's the way it sounded.

All I can say, if you drove with a car with this sound at idle, you would hate yourself and everbody would look at you at every stop sign....

Here's a video clip with sound.....
<a href="http://www.audipages.com/images/MOV00054.MPG">right click and "save target as", 3.5 mb</a>

It sounded sick, like it was going to die....

Anyway, here is the M5 I drove in and got to drive, with SMG.....the guy driving us wanted to basically kill us and the person we were going to hit....Schumburg mall drive at noon on a Saturday, that's the place to go 90 MPH, right outside of the IKEA parking lot, huh?

Well, we didn't hit anything, and the car is so glued to the road and wicked fast, four of us in the car and it launched.....the seats are incredible, you turn on an option and the side bolsters inflat and deflat as you start getting sideways G's and hold you in place....incredible.

Default Yes, the noise is normal, it's from straight cut gears

No, I would never want something that sounds like that....the guy said it's totally normal.
