Default Selling my A8 (anyone interested?) and going back to BMW

I pulled the trigger this weekend on an 01 740i Sport-the last of the pre-Bangle 7s. I owned a 00 540i Sport before the A8, and sold it to buy the Audi because (1) I wanted an auto tranny, (2) I'd never owned an Audi before, and have always admired the marque, and (3) the cars are great values. While I appreciate the Audi for what it is, I miss the driving experience BMW offers. I've found the Audi to be more Buick than BMW, especially when compared to BMW sport package cars.

Let me know if you know anyone looking for an A8. Mine is a 99, Silver/Cashmere, 96k, CWP, with all maintenance up to date, including TB change. VGC overall. I'm advertising it at $9995, hoping to get $8500-$9000. Any AW referral can have it for $8500. Am I being realistic? E-mail me if you want any more information.

Thanks for all the help you have offered in the last couple of years.

Default Nice score, great taste in cars you got there. The "swan song" 740i...

...PRE-BANGLE'D ABORTION is a fantastic car. Love the shifter they gave that, and it's stunning to look at / drive (thanks to the BMW "Tit Event" a/k/a Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer thingy) heh heh. Long story there for another day (just say Ferris Bueller):
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/86747/ferris_bueller.jpg">.

The A8 seems like a Buick to you in comparison b/c you're comparing apples to cumquats. You'd need to have had an //S8 to better compare to a 740i - and in that event it wouldn't be much of a comparo even as good as the BMW is. My $0.02.

IMO your A8 seems priced great. Good luck, and enjoy that 740i!

Default You're probably right about the comparison

though my admittedly uninformed opinion is that the 740 is a better overall handling car than the S8.

Default "Uninformed" being the operative word heh heh. Mine's, well, informed 8-)...

...it's not better.

But it sure is GOOD!

Can't compete with a properly set up AWD chassis.

Find a local //S8 FS and whomp accordingly. Report back.

Default LOL at the T*T comment above

I also had one last fling in a Komen 750il back in 2000, when they had the crazy X5 V8 demo drives on the skidpad!!!!

Good choice, but the trannies fail just like ours do lol!!!!!
