Sensor attached to the lower arms?

What is the purpose of the sensor attached to the control arms on the driver side(front and rear)? Are they related to head light focus?

If the car is loaded down such that the attitude of the vehicle changes, as measured by these control arm sensors, the xenon headlamps automatically re-aim.

This requirement is no different than with the mechanical 1960s-70s pitch compensating headlights which used linkages to the center of both anti-roll bars, a mechanical summer, and a damper.
