Default Serious transmission problem. My turn.

I guess it was just a matter of time. After driving for almost a year since my recent ATF oil change, transmission finally gave up on me last night. On street light when I started to apply throttle, car reved up but started to accelerate very slowly. Exactly same feeling as a sliping clutch. Then I heard that BOOM, felt like gear get engaged or something, immediatelly car went into a limp mode. Later, a check engine light lit up.
I drove to my brother's shop, he hooked up "Scancheck" diagnostic tool and we pulled a code. I'll post a code in 4 hours, today after lunch (can't remember what it was), but I remember tool showed - "Incorrect gear ratio". What is a problem? Do I need to get a whole thing rebuild or just a TC?

Default Possible solution

Link below is from other Audi forum. My experience was 1 to 1. I have 108k miles on the car, that guy had 109k. His problem was fixed relatively easy. Is it really just speed sensors?<ul><li><a href="http://www.audi-forums.com/t4746-am-i-doomed-to-a-new-rebuilt-transmission.htm">http://www.audi-forums.com/t4746-am-i-doomed-to-a-new-rebuilt-transmission.htm</a</li></ul>

Default Tranny rebuild kit

I wouldn't mind do it myself since I have plenty of time and nice mechanic shop with everything I could possibly need for a job. What kind of parts needed to be replaced during re-build process? Any complete kits out there? Or parts have to be ordered piece by piece?
Thanks.

Default TOZO IS YOUR MAN... But I think part by part there are some sites

I ran across when mine went.. google ZF and see what is out there. also I think you can order right from a ZF supplier to get parts. But first take it out and apart and see what is broken. But I cna tell you if you continue to try to drive it you will cause more damage.

Thanks Marco. I will do a research for parts. I am not planning to drive car at all till it fixed. It barely moves from start. I'll keep you guys updated and will take some photos to post it here later.

Default that guy was really lucky. all I can suggest is check your codes and post them. Drain the fluid..

and look for chunks of metal or metallic flakes.

Good luck, if it needs rebuilding, try "authorized transmission centers"

Default codes

here the code I got from ScanCheck tool. There was only one and here it is. 1A-P0730 "Incorrect Gear Ratio". Anyone know what exactly that mean?
