How will the car compare to the A6 for rear seat room? Will it be less, more or about the same?

The floor in front of the rear seats is 5 inches shorter in the SWB.

Not sure if you're referring to the coming '05 or not. I can say that from just the feel of it, the A8, say and '03, has much more rear seat room than the '04 A6. It's the primary reason I went with the S8 over the RS6. And a few less tickets perhaps ;-)

for my standards it's huge.. i'm 6 ft and i had ALOT of space i guess i'm not used to LWB cars

I had a '99 A8 and it had about the same leg room as my current A6.

I have been in many cars with supposed the same leg room but they are a different.

I've sat in one, and it has the same amount of rear leg room as the D2 A8L.

And I can't quite say that about my friends A6. Although that was a pre-98 A6.

I think the seat bottoms are a little longer in the A8
