Audi S4-GASM

Hey guys - I'm a fellow Audi owner; I've just been away from this section of the board for a while. I own a heavily modified B5 Audi S4, and owned an 01 A8 a few years back. Both are/were fabulous vehicles. The only issue that I remember with my A8 was the MAF, other than that it was dead-reliable up until 78K or so when I sold it.

I miss my A8, and came across an '01 S8 with 126,000 miles or so. Should I be scared of an S with this many miles on it? Is there anything I should look for before purchasing it? I'm not scared of mileage (I have 97,000 HARD miles on my S4 and 175,000 semi-hard miles on my Mark VIII). I am general manager at an auto shop, so getting labor done isn't an issue. I just don't want major engine problems or weird electrical gremlins. ;-)

All that breaks on the D2 seems to be unrelated to mileage, Go for it!

Seriously, the answer is "depends". Depends on the life it's led, services, done, etc.

If it's clean, sorted, solid? Long as it's priced right (read: cheap) you should be good to go.

If the price is right the records are there and the car is clean there is nothing to worry about

I just stepped up to the plate and got one from the Audi dealer with all the service records and 35K on a new tranny. Thanks for all of the help guys ... I've now joined you with an 01 S8, black on black.
