I bought a Audi A8 2000 about 2 years back and it only came with a single key, the remote has never worked. I recently got ross-tech VAG-COM and noticed that the car picked up the signals when I pressed any of the keys:
unlock: 0100
lock: 0010
etc.
However when I press the buttons, the car does nothing.
Is there a way to program these codes so the car responds?

Did you check the lock encoding? I recently changed mine so that all the doors and the trunk unlock with just one push of the remote...rather than one click for the drivers door and a second click to open the rest. I suppose it's possible to (accidentally) disable the locking so that the remote doesn't open anything.
My original lock coding was 16140. I changed it to 16136. Now everything opens with one click.
